Here we go again....

Well..... it's really something about our vacationing options that we have to really look into... afterall, for the past few years, Ms Clover and me have been just visitin these few countries like Taiwan, Bali, Taiwan, Malaysia, Taiwan.. Taiwan.. and ... more Taiwan...

hahha... and this time, we are proud to announce... we are going to *drumroll please* ... T-A-I-W-A-N!!!

Yes ladies and gents, it's the land of chinese diplomats who loved bashing each other up in legistrative councils or hhave no second thoughts about verbal-bashing (sometimes physical oso) their government officials about their policies and politics. Try that in Singapore and you get haul-assed to say hello to Changi's friendly vacation institude...

So what ever happen to the Japan trip? Well... 1st off, the amount to prep for a trip to Japan is going to make us eat bread (not Breadtalk kind but the neighbourhood confectionary type) for the next 4 months to recoup our "losses" and the exchange rate is working against us (we used to be able to get 1000Y for SGD$13.9, now it has risen to 1000Y for SGD$15.9)... just an example of how expensive things are in Japan - we are planning to visit DisneyLand Tokyo and guess how much is the entrance fee only... SGD$100 per pax!!!! And to get a day pass on the Japan metro system, it's about SGD$40 odd... : ( and let's not forget about transportation via taxi to city vinicity and accomodation... *breaks out into a sweat*

Japan is a nice place to go BUT what's the point of going there for a vacation only to scrimp and scrimp? Due to the cost of living, it would not be wise to go shopping and buy souvenirs. Really restrictive... sad

Then again, how about other areas in Asia, we have Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Australia...etc, why not there? One thing in common between Ms Clover and myself: HongKong is really 'boring' and not as robust in citylife as Taipei, China (Shanghai was one of our considerations).. I guess we will wait a little longer to explore it as it's just developing its overseas trading ventures and airfares there are still catered more towards businessmen, besides, I may have the chance to go there via corporate sponsorship : ). Thailand is something we can go over the weekend and now really isn't the time to go. Australia... well, it's definitely in our cards and we have to postpone our 2 weeks visit till next year - planning to visit Perth, Sydney, Melbourne & Gold Coast. And I have to get my driving license 1st! The exchange rate has also risen a little ot SGD$1 to AusD$1.3.

So.. after visiting Taiwan for so many times (I think this is my 5th trip liao), what can we really do there? Well, we can pick up from where we left off the last trip in Nov 2004. We will be going down to KaoSiung this time and going to those slightly more ulu places like Ali Shan, PingDong Province..etc. THe main thing: to go enjoy the cool weather (7 degrees!) and catch the snow falls in Yang Ming Mountain. And this time round, we will be going with Ms Clover's frens (that means more 'models' to take!) and so the more the company, the merrier!

Ohh, did I mention we will be leaving next week? hahahha... yes, very sudden right.. but I guess this is the kind of adventure Ms Clover and myself really like - just pack and go!

Some of our friends were really quite puzzled why we like to go Taipei so much - to tell you the truth, we love the food there as well as the neat cafe cultures there. Although the French has already perfected the cafe culture but Taiwanese culture is more Asian oriented and themed with a good mix of English/ Asian and New age design.. something you don't get in Singapore or France. Besides, having fun at a very affordable price is just one of the agenda, I'm also looking for business opportunities to expand my photography overseas as I will be working in a country where I know the language and the working culture and they are very receptive to neo-artistic stuff which I hope to develop upon... and did I mention that their photo shoots are quite unique? A mixture of Japanese and Chinese styled.

Ohh well, now that the budget airlines are really slogging it out to sock their rivals' business, it's us the consumer who gets to gain. You won't believe how much the air tix to Taipei (direct flight and day timing) is - Cathay: SGD$438, SIA: SGD$333..etc. Jet Star is offering SGD$289 with airport tax included!!!!

Worth it? Definitely : )

So, getting Jetstar Asia tickets? Seems very worth it. Have great fun, which I'm sure you'll have and seeing snow is definitely a great highlight!

WHAT!?!?! Taiwan again!?!?!?!? Oh well... I'm getting my holiday soon... I'm going to be in Gold Coast end of Jan early Feb to give training... Darn... Hottest part of the year there... Will sneak in 2 or 3 days of holidays... Got to contact some friends there... Have not seen them since 1999...
