So what's up last week?

Last week was quite an interesting one...

Let's start with last Sat - the fund raising by St Luke Hospice.
Was with CY, Ms Snooze and Teh Peng in the city area. While the 2 lovey-dovey went over to Funan, CY and me stayed at Suntec area to get donations. AFter so long since my fund raising days (last did it in Secondary school and that's like 10 years ago!), I felt kinda strange doing it but hey, it was for a good cause.

During the 4 hours stint, I have the following conclusions to make:

1) 95% of the people who passed by us WILL NOT donate out of their inconvenience

2) 90% of the people who passed by us WILL NOT donate at all despite being asked

3) 80& of the people we approached and donated, donated just to ward off the next donation collector *buy an amulet scheme*

4) 15% of the people who donated are usually common folks who dun strut around in their Pradas and GooCh'i and their Cartiers...

5) 50% of the people who donated have children

6) 10% of the people who walked by us have children but didn't donate. Wonder what kind of values they are imparting to their kids.

7) 0.5% of the people who walked by us DID NOT donate but loved to treat you as the free Singapore Directory

8) 0.3% of the donators really cared and emptied out their purse of coins into the donation bag

9) Singaporeans are helpful when it's in their own convenience and that it would not cost them

10) Donation drives are no longer popular due to the mass donation drives happening all year round and televisionised by major corporates.

Seriously, I think this kind of donation drive can be handled by students. Students who are younger, are more easily approachable compared to being an adult. While the adults can be more fully utilised by helping out at the hospice or home where more responsible actions can be handled.

Ohh well, it was an experience to remember for a long time :)

I think I rather get pledge card and ask friends/colleagues to donate. Or sell handicrafts made by beneficiaries.
