So what's up last week? (Part Deux)
Upon arrival after a 8 hours ride on the coach (still got travel companies take the Causeway route instead of the 2nd Link .. ohh well), I felt like I've entered a region where I'm stuck between the 80s entertainment with a 90s mechandising facade. And we are in the 21st Century mind you... It's like stepping into Parkway Parade Shopping Center with its indoor theme park on the top floor (for those who can still remember the Uncle Ringo theme park in P.P)
Everything is absolutely boring and I was glad to have Serene with me coz I think I will go mindless if I stay there alone. 1st off, I dun see the thrill of the jackpot machines coz it's really sometime you are being manupulated into thinking that you have won but as the good old chinese saying goes:"shi du, jiu su" or "10 times you gamble, 9 times you lose" but you see flocks and crowds of loud mouth aunties and uncles ceaselessly throwing their money (and quite a lot of it) on these contraptions, only to lose it all in the end. How can they think they can win money from a casino - the whole thing was designed to make you win alittle and lose it all later. Example - the slot machine which is electronic: of the odds given, you will have to input say about RM50 to get a small win of RM2 - RM5, in the long run, the ratio of getting a win out of anything is 25:1 Yet you see these people staying up late into the night, pushing those buttons and feeding the casino so much money.
Of coz there's execeptions that people do get rich via gambling but what's the morale of the story? In the end, you are entrapped in to the sin of Greed.
Well, for the whole of 3 days there, Serene and I went shopping for clothes and entertained ourselves with good food and good games. We both bought 3 t-shirts each and 1 pair jeans (for her, a jeans skirt). We found this restuarant called THE OLIVE which I must really really recommend for those who ain't into Gambling but into food and entertainment to go.
The foood is totally fantastic, and a delight to behold when it's served. The presentation and the effort into making your eating experience a very pleasant and warmhearted one really deserved top marks. The service is really dedicated and prompt and the ambience of the place is really relaxing. You might even lose yourself in the ambience as we did over a long drink one night and there's live band (trio group with such beautiful voices)
The price is, although by Malaysian standards, is expensive but to have all that quality, ambience, service, food, presentation, skills in Singapore, you will be laughing at how inexpensive THE OLIVE charges for all that. Indeed, we had such satisfying meals there that we both agree that we wouldn't mind just going up to Gentings just to eat at THE OLIVE again!
All's well ends well and safely we returned to this Sunny side of the island. Hmm...... Gentings anyone?
Gimme KL anytime!
