Jam session!
With Sam and I coming in around the same time, Sam booked the studio earlier (the place is always packed with many bands of all kinds: metal, heavy metal, rock, funk...etc) and went on to jam our instruments away: Sam on bass, me on drums. Did a few smooth funk grooves and break-beats. I really enjoy this outburst of new stuff from a seasoned player like Sam who has improved a lot on his bass techniques since we last played. Now he's the bass-man.. haha :D The drums sounded loose but still can make it to a certain extent lah.. need to change my drumsticks liao - the tip heads are not packing a direct punch as they chipped away.
Basically, the jam session was a good start for us as we need an outlet from our usual church playing and to try out new styles as well as other types of music which will eventually help us improve in our coordination as well as our interpretation of styles in worship music.
CY came to join us later. She's a talented musician who runs her own business in teaching music and musical seminars - big scale type. With her music background, she injected a lot of good feel with the electric guitar and I learnt a new way of playing "My Redeemer Lives" which I'm going to bug CY into writing the chords for me.
A pity Leon and Amos can't make it for this one as work held them back, if not it would be a very cool group session, exchanging pointers as well as picking up new stuff.
Well, since this one's a hit, I think there will definitely more the next time. Stay tuned!
:)
