Music Downtime....
All of us are tyring to get somewhere but nowhere are we going and the songleader's choice of songs is seriously in need of a review, revamp and possibly, a major 100% makeover.
What's with the rudimentary stuff and the band has to suffer for it... trying to accomodate the type of songs that seems more appropriate for small group and personal worship, not for the congregation on a sleepy Sunday. You want to rouse the spirit of worship amongst the people and rouse the call for them to sing as one people right? But with the kind of songs we will be playing and singing.. I really doubt that there will be rousing of any kind.
Went out with Sam again for a late night drink at our friendly kopitiam... discussed the situation with him and had a few good advice and views. Maybe can try out some of his suggestions next time round.
Handed over the 1st part of the project for NCSS to Ms Snooze.. hope the designers can find something in my shots to work with :) tomorrow evening has in store an exciting shoot for Citibank but the weekend came really too quickly... I still have a magazine to complete by this week and next week I'm totally tied with shoots.. argh!!
Must pray for discipline to sit down and concentrate on my work.
Later!
Agree with you over the choice of worship songs, guess that is familiarity and comfort zone on the part of the worship leaders and the congregation. Even during practise, I also felt the "lull-ness" but prepped myself as we are worshipping and prasing God, nonetheless. And that is the ultimate aim(even if it goes against our own choice/selection of what would be rousing)

I had a discussion with Teh Peng over MSN today oso... well, guess there's the church culture to contend with so while we try to solve that, the next best thing is to improve on ourselves too...

Aiyo...this particular songleader is known to choose such songs lah... i was mentioned to our dear band leader that we dont really have to prac for this songleader's songs...bandleader laughed and said that we have no choice. We're doing it for God not for the songleader. Wise words indeed... Yes we can "rationalise" all we want but at the end, we still feel xian lor...BTW what was sam's comment?

I'm looking for jamming partners. I've been learning the bass (on and off) for some time now and I finally realise that I need an environment to play in for me to grow...I'm interested particularly in more "mid-frequency" type of music (Think Ocean's 12). Anyone keen ??? Need to form a band that wants to just jam...hopefully when we're good enough we can explore recording, digitizing our music and earn some money out of it - but that's just like much later...now just looking for pp to form jam band.

BTW I have a new blog...what happened to my old one? well Penguinsperfect is about myself and I guess I just got tired of writing about myself. Will come back to it sometime soon though. Anyway in my new blog "isgodreal.blogspot.com", I am devoted to exploring the evidences for the reality of Christ and the credibility of the Bible.
