Monday and I *gasp!* nearly AWOL...
THIS really can't be happening to the 1st day of the week but I actually managed to forget that my ICT starts TODAY, yes! TODAY! I always tot it was on a Tues when a very queer feeling while accompanying darling to her workplace prompted me to ask why my ICT is not held on a Monday but a Tuesday.....
PANICK gripped and (it was already 0710hr) I was not dressed in my No.4, not prepared to go to my reporting center and worst, not even near my place where all my stuff lies awaiting in my room! This is really a bad start to the week....
So, contemplated on whether to avoid the disaester of facing up to my CO and tell him I was late coz I really forgot the date of book-in by getting an MC or ... just go late... thankful and (rather unglam-ly) I was a key appointment holder so in a way, I can skip the 1st 2 hours or prep and welcome talk but the bad thing is a bad example for all to witness....
Rushed home in a taxi (thankfully I woke up early with darling coz usually I would sleep in late till 9-ish), changed like superman less underwear outside, grabbed all my army stuff, booked a cab to my report center and arrived there, 60 mins later. Bad.......
My CO caught up with me while I was trying to look inconspicious and sneak into the crowd (but how to, with my field pack daggling from my back and my black book-in bag), din give me a dressing down but I suspected he's going to eat me for lunch later. Thankfully, my OC is kind and not really into this matter. Had to *glup!* come up with an excuse that I totally overslept the book-in time due to late assignment the night before... argh.. gulty conscience now...
SO the day went on like it's supposed to, many familiar and unfamiliar faces... the same yakkity yak from all levels of admin, the total boring lectures and refresher lessons and the food... okie but not fantastic. Many things to plan and many things I felt reluctantly nostagic about... (kinda makes me wonder if that's how I was spending my time previously when in the service.. being involved in so many yakkity yaks and totally boring lessons that by the time you can get things done, everyone wants to go home already...)
THankfully, this weekend is going to be long one and upcoming monday is the 3 days FDX (short for Field Deployment Xercise)... pray for good weather and good coordination from all aespects of the In-Camp... wouldn't want to risk having remedial training for an extra day.
Tired.. sleep.... Zzzzzz......
